Project in collaboration with Sarah Cline. Referencing the Digger Free Stores of the 1970’s as a way to look at the obscured abundance of the city and alternative economies. All objects in the store were found over a 25 hour period in San Francisco. Shoppers could select a holiday gift, their hands were xeroxed around the object, have it gift wrapped, and it was theirs to keep or give. The xeroxes were all placed on the wall as a means of commemorating the new hands the object had fallen into. We were not asking people to take in a process or adjust to an entirely new paradigm, but simply to experience a small shift in understanding.
